Tim has been a patent specialist with Baldwins since 1998, and a partner in the Auckland office since 2001. Tim splits his time between the Auckland and Wellington offices. He works primarily in the areas of patents, with particular expertise in patent litigation, and also advises on copyright and design protection.
Tim specialises in litigation support, providing validity and infringement advice, drafting patent specifications, preparing license and other technology transfer agreements and advising on intellectual property portfolio management.
When not advising clients, Tim follows his childrens' burgeoning sporting careers and fits in a round of golf when he can.
Tim’s technical areas of expertise are primarily in the pharmaceutical and agrichemical areas. He was junior counsel for Fort Dodge New Zealand Limited in a successful patent revocation action which went to the Privy Council. He has also provided specialist litigation support in a number of areas before IPONZ and the New Zealand Courts. Furthermore, Tim has advised a number of local clients in relation to obtaining patent protection in major overseas markets such as the United States and Europe.
